Hi.Dozo

Background

Hi.Dozo is a premium, delivery-only omakase concept by Michelin-starred chef Daisuke Nakazawa, launched in Los Angeles in 2024 in partnership with DoorDash. An extension of the acclaimed Sushi Nakazawa restaurants, it reimagines the chef's counter experience for the home. Bringing the intimacy and excellence of omakase directly to your table. No reservation required.

The challenge

The challenge was to translate one of the world’s most refined dining experiences into a delivery-first format. Without losing its sense of ceremony, craftsmanship or exclusivity. The identity needed to balance Michelin-star credibility with accessibility, standing apart in a crowded delivery landscape while appealing to both loyal Sushi Nakazawa patrons and a new generation of diners.

Solution

We partnered with DoorDash and the Sushi Nakazawa team over two years to build Hi.Dozo from the ground up. From naming to visual identity, packaging and art direction.

At the heart of the identity is a symbol inspired by the shape of the chef’s counter at Sushi Nakazawa in New York. Abstracted into the logo, this form sends the chef’s table from the restaurant into the home. The motif extends across layouts and packaging, reinforcing the idea: from the chef’s table to your home.

The name blends English and Japanese, translating to “Hi, here you go,” capturing the warmth of omakase hospitality while reflecting the brand’s cross-cultural roots. A muted, warm palette and refined yet inviting art direction balance elegance with accessibility, while the chef’s signature adds a personal mark of authenticity. The result is a brand that feels considered, premium and quietly confident, redefining what delivery can be.

Outcome

Since launching in 2024, Hi.Dozo has grown steadily in popularity, sales and relevance across Los Angeles. The brand has successfully extended the Sushi Nakazawa experience into the home, attracting both devoted omakase diners and new audiences discovering the cuisine for the first time.

What began as a delivery-only concept is now scaling its footprint. Hi.Dozo is currently preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar flagship in West Hollywood, while simultaneously exporting its delivery experience across the coast to New York City.
